Dear Brothers and Sisters,

At the last meeting of the elders and deacons, we voted unanimously to embark on a new ministry opportunity that has the potential to change the landscape of our campus and our ministry!  I am excited to announce to you that we are in the process of entering into a cooperative agreement with Mission to North America (MNA) to become the base of operation for their Disaster Relief Program.  MNA (the PCA’s home ministry board) helps organize relief efforts for disasters that take place within the US, including hurricanes, tornados, floods, etc., by sending teams and supplies into the effected area.  Grace would become the starting point for those efforts.
The first step will be building a 20,000 sq. ft. facility to be used to store equipment and supplies needed to deal with large scale disasters.  The building will be located on the piece of ground that was originally graded for a softball field just west of our current building.  The money for the construction and maintaining of the building will come completely from MNA.  We will have no financial investment in this project, but will have complete ownership of the building.  If, in the future, either party decides to end our cooperative agreement, the building will belong to Grace free and clear.
There were a number of things that drew MNA to Dalton; including being centrally located within the PCA, close interstate access, a building already in place that can house disaster relief teams and host training seminars, and a church that is already heavily invested in mercy ministry.  The presence of Jim Boyd at Grace was also an important part of the equation.  Jim has a lot of experience with and passion for disaster relief work.  Jim will serve as a key component in this undertaking; overseeing the construction of the facility, as well as having an ongoing role in working with MNA to manage the facility once it is operational.
What are the benefits for us?  First, we have an opportunity to have a key role in ministering to our denomination that will require no financial investment on our part.  We also expect that we will have the benefit of being able to use part of the area of the facility for our own storage needs.  Second, this will allow us to make greater use of the facilities we already have, especially the team house we built.  Grace Outreach should see a significant increase in revenue from additional teams using the house.  So we are excited about this new opportunity.  Please pray that God will use this cooperative effort in a powerful way.  Blessings!
